Ladakh & Zanskar two adjacent valleys – two similar communities yet distinct – two different landscapes - remote, mysterious and set in an awe-inspiring landscape. Tibet ? You may well ask.. In the south – Spiti, an extension of this stark, hi-altitude desert terrain with precariously perched time-honoured monasteries. These are the exotic lands that Tsarap Himalayan Adventures takes you through- on fascinating journeys.

Ladakh is one of the last strongholds of Tibetan Buddhism which is still enthusiastically followed among the majority of the populace. Ancient monasteries home to a wealth of ancient scriptures, scrolls and exquisite Thanka paintings, gilded statues and striking images, stand in isolated pockets around the mountains. Another noticeable feature of this vast hi-altitude desert region is its striking similarity both cultural and topographic to its northern neighbour - Tibet . This entire territory offers the trekker a wealth of trails that traverse complex mountain ranges sprouting lofty peaks that challenge the avid mountaineer. The expansive Changthang plateau and the Hemis High Altitude National Park sustain a rich diversity of flora and fauna while offering the wild life admirer unforgettable sightings of rare and endangered mammals and plant life.

Today with a fair network of routes and a reliable infrastructure, Ladakh offers the visitor excellent facilities in the way of accommodation, accessibility and grand vistas of breathtaking scenery. Some areas still remain remote and isolated being open to the rest of the world only for 4-5 months a year. On the other hand one thing stands out – the inherent character of the Ladakhi people - warm, jovial, friendly and hospitable.
